Kalyan's regime was better than mine: Rajnath
Barabanki, Apr 19 (UNI) Terming former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh as an ideal CM ever, BJP president Rajnath Singh today said, ''the former's tenure as CM was better than mine.'' ''I proudly say Kalyan Singh was the best CM that UP ever produced. In his tenure, UP was at zenith,'' the BJP leader said while addressing an election gathering here.
''Sadly, CM Mulayam Singh Yadav ruined everything. In his regime, the common man has been neglected as he is only busy in providing 'shelter' to history-sheeters,'' Mr Singh charged.
Claiming the ongoing state Assembly poll result to be in favour of BJP, he said ''there is strong BJP undercurrent in UP. It will never need the support of BSP and SP.'' Expressing concern over the ''dismal'' law and order situation in UP, he alleged ''the state has become a 'rest house' for criminals.
The Mulayam regime had only Nithari, Kavita Rani and other such cases to present people. The time has come when Mr Yadav should realise that UP is far from being Uttam Pradesh.'' ''UP today is not what people had dreamt before selecting Mulayam as UP CM. He has no right to sit on CM's seat,'' he maintained.
Tongue-lashing BSP chief Mayawati, he alleged ''she has gone astray from the path of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar. He was a great social worker and constantly worked for all. But Mayawati is power hungry.
When she comes to power, she does not mind even insulting the voters.'' ''Instead of talking about development, the chief ministerial candidates of SP and BSP are promising people to jail opponents if voted to power. It is painful that UP is presently trapped in a pool of jail politics and is far away from development-oriented politics,'' he added.
