JMM leader urges members to sever ties with NSS
Jamshedpur, Apr 19 (UNI) Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) secretary Nasar Firdausi today urged the party members to severe ties with Nagarik Suraksha Samity (NSS), a village committee against naxals, as it may affect the party's image.
Dr Firdausi urged the incarcerated party supremo Shibu Soren to take serious note on the 'close relation' of some party leaders with the NSS president Shankar Chandra Hembram and also demanded the ouster of the NSS members, who are also the members of the JMM.
He said Mr Hembram should clarify his status with the JMM.
The NSS had become the target of the naxals after it announced ''sendra'' (killings) against them.
Despite the NSS's recent call to participate at a meeting to launch 'sendra' campaign at Baghuria village, where the JMM MP Sunil Mahto was assassinated by the naxals, the villagers boycotted the meeting.
''The reply to the bullets of the rebels can not be given with the bullets. We have to launch developmental projects in the villages. Being a rural-based party it was not possible to ignore the villages,'' Dr Firdausi said.
If the party continued to support the NSS the villagers would distance away from the JMM for their survival and would compel to support the naxals.
He had also cautioned Mr Soren in a letter that the party was losing its base in the rural area following its alliance with the NSS.
