ISKCON to embark on Rs 500 cr Krishna theme park
Bangalore, Apr 19 (UNI) International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) will soon begin construction of a world class Krishna Theme Park, aimed at showcasing Indian heritage, in a sprawling 28 acres on the outskirts of the city.
The Rs 500 crore project, expected to rake in crores of rupees in the form of tourism revenue for Karnataka, would generate job opportunities to over 5,000 people.
Announcing this to mediapersons here, ISKCON Bangalore President Madhu Pandit Das said a unique funding strategy had been conceived based on hinterland development of lands adjacent to the theme park site. With the objective of cross-subsidising the theme park project, ISKCON, through Indian Heritage Foundation, had purchased private lands around the theme park for commercial development like housing for its well wishers and supporters. No public donations had been sought for the project, he explained.
He said the indoor Krishna Theme Park would be conceived in a magnificent single structure of 25 lakh sqft and towering to 120 metres height. A Master Plan for the project was being finalised, comprising multiple attractions such as cave like areas, beautiful gardens, walkways and guest accommodation of various categories.
