EC issues fresh directives for represntatives of parties

Lucknow, Apr 19 (UNI) The Election Commission has issued fresh directives on the representitives of the political parties, sitting 200 meters away from the polling booth, saying their criminal record should be checked.

In a clear directive to all the districts holding the polling in the remaining four phases, the EC has said that these political parties representatives names should be in the same polling booth and they should have Election Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) with them.

'' Authorities should also check that nobody with criminal background is allowed to sit there at any cost'', said state CEO Anuj Kumar Bishnoi here.

He said the EC had to issue this direction following reports from the just concluded polling.

According to sources, information about people having criminal background were being engaged outside the polling booth.
