Congress lambasts BJP for criticising Rahul

Bangalore, Apr 19 (UNI) Stating that Congress Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi only spoke the truth that his grandmother and late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was instrumental in creation of Bangladesh, the Congress in Karnataka today said the comments and 'pontifying sermons' of the Bharatiya Janata Party in this regard was nothing but 'pathetic and hypocritical'.

Speaking to media persons after releasing a CD containing the interview given by Mrs Gandhi to BBC and her speech in the presence of Bangladesh's first Prime Minister Sheik Mujibur Rehman, KPCC Information and Technology Cell Chairman P S Niranjan Rao said it was unfortunate and totally irresponsible to blame Rahul Gandhi for his statement.

''Due to the political sagacity, diplomatic foresight and focused determination of the former Prime Minister, the glorious victory was achieved and this will remain a glorious chapter in the history of the country,'' he said.

He claimed that the popularity and response received by Rahul Gandhi during his road show in Uttar Pradesh had created fear in the rank and file of parties opposed to the Congress. The Congress leaders, including Mrs Gandhi and her son and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, had always encouraged young leaders in all fields, irrespective of party affiliations. It was unfortunate to note that today the other party leaders were attacking an upcoming leader on trivial issues, he said.
