Chief Secretaries meeting to discuss internal security

New Delhi, Apr 19 (UNI) Chief Secretaries of States will come together here tomorrow to discuss measures to streamline overall governance and work out a strategy to improve the internal security situation.

A day-long meeting, being organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, would also discuss issues pertaining to food security, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and National Rural Health Mission.

A special focus would be laid on measures to be taken to improve the overall business climate in the country, official sources said here today.

Cabinet Secretary B K Chaturvedi would inaugurate the Conference.

The conference serves the twin purposes of assessing the performance of different states over a period of time, as also, appraisal of the progress made in respect of various flagship programmes of different nodal Ministries of the Union Government.

Over a period of time, this has proved to be a useful platform to deliberate upon critical issues like law and order, education, health, employment and rural development.

"Not only this, such a conference proves useful in sorting out issues constraining speedy implementation of centrally sponsored and central sector schemes," sources said.
