Mysore, Apr 19 (UNI) The Cauvery Hitarakshana Samithi, spearheading the Cauvery agitation in the basin region, has written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, urging him to take necessary steps to reject the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal.

In the letter, released to the media in neighbouring Mandya, Samithi President G Made Gowda warned that if the Government did not respond within 15 days, their agitation would be intensified.

Pointing out that the Union Government had not responded to their earlier letter, endorsed by the Krishna Cauvery Kriya Samithi in the last week of March, he appealed to the Centre not to notify the award and frame a national water policy to solve inter-state water disputes.

Meanwhile, the Cauvery agitation continued in Mandya district.

At Srirangapatna, farmers and milk producers associations staged a dharna and resorted to road blockade for some time on the Mysore- Bangalore expressway. Dharnas were also staged in Mandya, Srirangapatna, Maddur and Pandavapura.

In Mysore, the Cauvery Kriya Samithi's signature campaign continued at K R Circle.
