BSP files protest with EC over 'false' booklet
New Delhi, Apr 19 (UNI) Perturbed over explosive nature of the contents of the booklet 'Karyakartaon Ke Liye Bahenji Ka Sandesh, one of the frontrunners in the ongoing Uttar Pradesh Assembly election Bahujan Samaj Party today rushed to the Election Commission disowning the book and demanding registration of a police case against those involved in its publication The BSP described the circulation of the booklet as a conspiracy by rival political parties to wean away voters from it.
The title of the booklet in English reads as 'Behenji's (Mayawati's) message for party workers.' It contains objectionable remarks against various castes and religions.
Party General Secretary Satish Misra in an application to the Commission strongly denied any association with the publication which he said was ''obnoxious in both content and nature''.
He said it was surprising that the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) had released a press note yesterday even before the BSP could get a copy, which lent credence to the suspicion that the publication of the booklet was the ''handiwork of rival political parties''.
Mr Misra said the BSP had lodged an FIR in Lucknow as soon as it came to know about the booklet.
He also told the Commission that the party had contacted the Taj Printers, the press mentioned in the booklet, but they denied their involvement and said their name had been falsely and incorrectly used.
