Bihar all set to boost tourism in Buddhist circuit

Patna, Apr 19 (UNI) To promote tourism, Bihar government has completed seven ambitious projects in Buddhist circuits.

Sources at the state tourism department here today said that seven projects at different places in Bodh Gaya, Nalanda and Rajgir had been completed with the central assistance.

According to the sources a Meditation park at Mahabodhi Temple premises was constructed at the cost of Rs 75 lakh. The famous Maya sarovar(pond) was made at Rs 1.5 crore, while the Kalchakra Maidan was developed at the cost of Rs 75.56 lakh.

The High School building was also constructed at Bodh Gaya on which Rs 33.11 lakh were spent.

The sources said that a project to the tune of Rs 25 lakh was also completed under which the infrastructure was developed to promote tourism in Nalanda. Apart from this Rs 60 lakh were spent for the development of tourism in Rajgir premises.

The sources disclosed about various projects to be taken up in the current fiscal with central assistance in the tourism sector, saying that a toursim complex would be constructed at Bhagulpur with an estimate of Rs 56.72 lakh, a cafeteria would be made at Vikramshila (Rs 12.74 lakh), development and beautification of the Kakolat waterfall and the adjoining areas would be taken up at an expenditure of Rs 48.79 lakh, Bheem bandh, in Munger would be beautified under eco-tourism with an expenditure of Rs 390 lakh, the Abhishek Pushkarni in Vaishali has been proposed to be developed and Rs 192 lakh would be spent on it.

According to the source, several other projects were in the pipeline which would be taken up in the current financial year.
