Agitation ends as JU revokes Research Scholar's suspension
Jammu, Apr 19 (UNI) The University of Jammu here revoked the suspension order against a research scholar today, which was being strongly protested by the students who were holding demonstrations and boycotting classes.
Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University Prof Amitabh Mattoo announced the revocation of suspension order against one Sandeep Singh Sandy for his alleged 'misbehaviour' before the selection committee, a week ago.
The suspension of Mr Sandy, who was also the president of Jammu University Research Scholars Association (JURSA), sparked a resentment among students and research scholars as they boycotted classes and held demonstrations in the campus premises.
Mr Mattoo termed these developments in the Jammu University as ''unfortunate'' and said: ''I have always followed the philosophy of forgive and reform.
''Our idea was not to spoil the career of student. Mr Sandy has regretted and I believe the episode is over now.'' The Vice-Chancellor vowed to put all efforts to develop the Jammu University as an educational centre of possible global excellence.
There were some vested interests, who were spoiling the peaceful environment of the university, Mr Mattoo added.
He also walked around the university campus and talked to the students about security scenario and other problems in the campus.
Meanwhile, the agitating students and research scholars had called off their strike. ''There will be normal classwork from tomorrow,'' Mr Sandy told UNI
