ACC Q1 PAT up 54 pc

New Delhi, Apr 19 (UNI) Country's second largest cement producer Associated Cement Companies (ACC) today posted 54 per cent jump in its net profit to Rs 363 crore for the first quarter ended March 31, 2007 as against Rs 235 crore during the same period last year.

The company's total income also rose 23.76 per cent to Rs 1,703 crore during the said period in comparison to Rs 1,376 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2006.

Its net sales increased by 26.2 per cent to Rs 1,675 crore as compared to Rs 1,328 crore year-on-year.

The company's grinding augmentation Project at Tikaria has gone into commercial production during the said quarter.

The project for expansion of capacity at Lakheri by 0.90 MT to 1.50 MT alongwith a new 25 MW captive power plant has commenced trial production, a company statement said. Projects for augmentation of grinding capacities at Kymore, Sindri and Wadi are also in progress, the statement added.

The project for expansion of New Wadi plant by a further three MT has been taken up.
