Uttarakhand submits report to SC on Tehri Dam
New Delhi, Apr 18 (UNI) The Superintending Engineer (SE) (Rehabilitation) Tehri Dam Project, Uttarakhand, has informed the Supreme Court that immediate survey would be conducted to identify risk areas where immediate slope treatment or rehabilitation was required.
SE Bhuwan Chandra Deorari, in his additional affidavit yesterday informed the apex court that prima facie slopes in and around Barola, Kangsali, Raulakot, Nakot, Talla Uppu, Bhald, Badhan and Hadlari villages in Bhagirithi valley were assessed as highly vulnerable and needed immediate attention before the next filling in the Reservoir.
Some other decisions were also taken in the meeting chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand on March 29.
Both the Union and the state governments had earlier submitted before the court that all relief and rehabilitation work had been completed for the families affected due to the construction of the dam.
According to the government, RL level, wherein the lands had been acquired under the submergence zone, had been up to 835 metres and not up to 840 meters.
Rehabilitation work had been carried out only up to the level of RL 835 meters.
A proposal for construction of a heavy motor vehicle bridge at Dobra was also under consideration of the state govertnment in order to reduce the distance for crossing the banks of the river.
