Two persons killed in collision

Anand, Apr 18 (UNI) Two persons were killed on the spot when the car in which they were travelling was hit by another vehicle on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Express Highway, near Anand, today.

The accident occurred when the driver of a multi-utility vehicle (MUV), proceeding towards Vadodara, lost control on the wheel after a tyre burst near Bedva overbridge on the expressway at 1430 hrs. He then crossed over to the otherside of the expressway and hit an oncoming car on way to Ahmedabad, police said.

The deceased were identified as Darshan Bhavsar and Chetan Nagji Cheda, both residents of Ahmedabad. They were travelling in the car.

The driver of the MUV, Nilesh Thawar Chandaji Tirgar, a resident of Udaipur in Rajasthan, received minor injuries in the incident.

However, he fled from the spot.

The police got his identity through his driving licence, which was recovered from the accident site.

A case has been registered by the Anand Rural Police.
