TDP demands AP govt to stop work on Babli project

Hyderabad, Apr 18 (UNI) Taking exception to the statements made by the Maharastra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh that his government would not stop the works at Babli project taken up across Godavari river, the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today demanded that the state government should stop the works immediately.

According to a release here, the TDP Chief and former Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu said, ''The government should take steps to halt the project works, or else, the government owning moral responsibility, should quit.

Stating that the TDP would organise 'maha dharna' at Sriram Ram Sagar project to show their protest against the governemnt's 'adamant attitude' on the project on April 24, he alleged that the government had failed to protect the Rights of the State in water sharing as per the Central Water Commission (CWC) UNI
