Kolkata, Apr 18 (UNI) Tata Consultancy Services, a leading IT company in India, will set up an IT hub in Rajarhat New Town employing at least 10,000 people.

TCS Chairman S Ramodorai today met Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee at Writers Buildings and discussed the project for which at least 40 acres of land would be required. State IT Minister Debesh Das and other senior IT department officials were present in the meeting.

''The state government will hand over the land to the company in a month,'' Mr Das told UNI.

Mr Ramodorai informed the chief minister that he had already selected the architects. Construction would start by the end of this year.

Mr Ramodorai said the Salt Lake IT hub of the company employs several thousand people currently. The new hub will employ at least 10,000.

"A few hundred crores of investments will come into this project.

However, the TCS Chairman did not give us any exact figure," the IT minister said, adding that the Kolkata IT hub has achieved 45 per cent growth which prompted him to set up another hub in Kolkata. The existing TCS office in Salt Lake is built in an area of four acres only.

The new town IT hub would be completed within three to four years.
