Second prototype of SARAS takes to air

Bangalore, Apr 18 (UNI) The National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL)- developed second prototype of multirole Light Transport Aircraft, SARAS today successfully made its maiden flight.

The aircraft took off at 0905 hrs this morning under the stewardship of Wg Cdr R S Makker, the chief test pilot for SARAS, and two other test flight pilots attached to the Aircraft Systems and Testing Establishment (ASTE) of the IAF, identified as the flight testing organisation of the aircraft.

The first prototype of SARAS made its inaugural flight on May 29, 2004, and had logged 106 flights so far, NAL said in a statement here.
