Rajnath scoffs at religion-based reservation
Lakhimpur Kheri, Apr 18 (UNI) BJP president Rajnath Singh today reiterated that his party would continue to oppose religion-based reservation and instead support the facility on the basis of economic condition.
''Do not construe that BJP is anti-Muslim, since the community would also be included in the economic criteria,'' Mr Singh said addressing an election meeting here.
Scoffing at the Congress-led UPA regime, he said the Centre as well as the Uttar Pradesh government were equally responsible for the rising inflation rate.
Hitting out at Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mr Singh said the state government, which had promised uninterrupted 24-hour power supply, has failed to provide even eight-hours of power.
''Crime rate, including rapes have recorded unprecedented hike under the Mulayam regime...the unemployment allowance to youth as promised is also not being given,'' he alleged.
Commenting on BSP chief Mayawati, the BJP president, also a former UP Chief Minister, said she was proliferating corruption by selling party tickets.
