PM sanctions Rs 1 lakh as ex-gratia to Ankit

New Delhi, Apr 18 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has sanctioned an ex-gratia of Rs one lakh from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund to seven-year-old Ankit of Faridabad who had been kidnapped and had later escaped.

''Master Ankit exhibited bravery under extreme stress leading to ensuring the arrest of the kidnappers,'' the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a press note today.

The Prime Minister has also approved taking over of the cost of immediate medical assistance. He has further approved provision of assistance for artificial limb through the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

The ex-gratia would be kept in a fixed deposit in the name of the child, with interest income for use of his parents and the amount would be given to the child on his attaining 18 years of age.
