ND: PM condoles Prof Loganathan's death

New Delhi, Apr 18: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has expressed his grief over the death of Indian Professor G V Loganathan, who was killed yesterday in the shooting rampage at the Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, US.

Dr Loganathan, an award winning Indian professor, was among the 33 killed in the Virginia Tech campus when a South Korean student, Cho Seung-hui, went berserk.

Prof Loganathan, 51, was a professor of civil and environmental engineering in Virginia Tech for the past 15 years.

An MTech from IIT-Kanpur and PhD from Purdue, he has received an award for excellence in teaching last year besides numerous other recognitions and was considered one of the department's top ten teachers.

Prof Loganathan, survived by his wife and two daughters, hailed from Karatadipalayam in Gobichettipalayam in Erode District of Coimbatore.
