Nagaland: NPF of Ghaspani-II sends SOS clashes

Kohima, Apr 18: The Nagaland Peoples' Front(NPF) has appealed to the state government to take immediate steps to contain clashes between the warring NSCN factions.

The NPF of the Ghaspani-two Assembly Constituency said that the violent situation in Medziphema has caused immense property damage and injured innocent villagers.

The NPF, the major alliance partner of the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland(DAN), in an appeal to the State Government yesterday, particularly to the Dimapur District administration, sought to draw attention of the district administration to the factional clashes in Medziphema town, Bungsand and Sirhima villages till Monday last, said a press release issued by Kometo Kehie, President of NPF of the Ghaspani-two Assembly Constituency.

The release alleged that the Government had failed to take adequate measures to instill confidence of the public and ensure security to the lives and property of innocent villagers in the wake of factional clashes in the area.

He pointed out that despite heavy collateral damage to villagers, especially those in Kuki villages, it was unfortunate that no emergency relief from the Government was forthcoming.

He made an appeal to Government machineries to immediately assess the damage caused to the people and seek ways to rescue them.

Meanwhile, the Ghaspani-two West Villagers' Union has convened a meeting tomorrow at Sirhima village to discuss on frequent factional clashes and harrassment of public in and around Ghaspani-two area and how to avoid the 'impact of such unwanted clashes'.
