NPF of Ghaspani-II A/C sends SOS over clashes
Kohima, Apr 18 (UNI) The Nagaland Peoples' Front(NPF) has appealed to the state government to take immediate steps to contain clashes between the warring NSCN factions.
The NPF of the Ghaspani-two Assembly Constituency said that the violence in Medziphema has caused damage to life and property.
The NPF is the major alliance partner of the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN). In an appeal to the State Government and the Dimapur District administration, yesterday it drew attention of the district administration to the factional clashes in Medziphema town, Bungsand and Sirhima villages. The press release issued by Kometo Kehie, President of NPF of the Ghaspani-two Assembly Constituency, in a release, alleged that the Government had failed to take adequate measures to instill confidence in the public and ensure security of the lives and property of innocent villagers in the wake of factional clashes in the area.
He pointed out that it was unfortunate that no emergency relief from the Government was forthcoming despite heavy collateral damage to villagers, especially those in Kuki villages.
He made an appeal to Government machineries to immediately assess the damage caused to the people and seek ways to rescue them.
Meanwhile, the Ghaspani-two West Villagers' Union has convened a meeting tomorrow at Sirhima village to discuss on frequent factional clashes and harrassment of public in and around their area and how to avoid its impact.
