No changes in SSA funding pattern for NE states

Aizawl, Apr 18 (UNI) The Human Resource Development ministry has agreed to follow the former pattern of funding in Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in Northeastern states, following the request of NE education ministers.

Talking to newspersons here yesterday, Mizoram Education Minster R Lalthangliana said the Centre had accepted the proposal of 75:25 ratio as Centre-State share for the funding.

Earlier the Centre had proposed 50:50 funding pattern, which was opposed by all the NE states.

It had been decided that the DoNER ministry would pay 15 per cent of the state's share while the respective states would bear the rest 10 per cent, Mr Lalthangliana said adding it was difficult on the part of NE states to meet the proposed 50 per cent share.
