Indian claims to be market leader again

New Delhi, Apr 18 (UNI) Government-owned Indian has wrested the number one position in domestic carriage in March, recording an average carriage of 21.9 million revenue passenger kilometers (RPKs) per day and achieving a market share of 21.9 per cent.

This market share has been achieved on a capacity share of 21.2 per cent.

Indian thus claimed to have displaced other full service carrier whose market share stood at 21.7 per cent (21.7 million RPKs per day) -- that too at a higher capacity base of 22.8 pr cent.

Indian registered an increase of 27.5 per cent in daily passenger carriage over March 06, achieving a carriage of 23,740 domestic passengers per day. The airline also registered an increase of 2.5 per cent over February 07 market share achieving a domestic market share of 21.9 per cent in March 07.

Indian's domestic seat factor of 71.8 per cent in March 07 is also higher than the industry average seat factor of 69.5 per cent, it said in a statement.
