Himachal First in ISO e-governance

Shimla, Apr 18 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh has successfully implemented 'Quality in Delivery of Public Services and emerged the first state in North India to acquire ISO:9001:2000 certification for e-governance services in issuance of driving/conductor licenses and registration certificates for motor vehicles.

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was presented the Certificates by Shri D K S Moorthy, Country Manager (Technical Services) of Norway-based Det Norske Veritas (DNV), for District Hamirpur and Sundernagar sub-division of district Mandi.

Speaking on the occasion yesterday, the Chief Minister said his government had decided to computerise all the official functioning with priority and to undertake computerisation of the revenue records.

He said the state government had targeted computerisation of all the records of gram panchayats to bring about efficiency, accuracy, transparency and quality in delivering services at grassroots level.

He said the fact that the state had high literacy rate, was a significant contributing factor towards shifting of learning focus from other traditional modes to the modern technology.
