Govt. official arrested for taking bribe

Kolkata, Apr 18 (UNI) Police today arrested a state government official on the charge of taking bribe, Fire Minister Pratim Chatterjee said.

Sachidananda Mazumder, the Fire Protection Officer, was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 10,000 from a person against a promise of issuing fire license, the Minister said.

The officer was immediately suspended and a departmental inquiry had been ordered, Mr.Chatterjee said.
