FCI officer kidnapped from city

Guwahati, Apr 18 (UNI) An officer of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) was kidnapped from here last night, police sources said today.

''The zonal manager of FCI branch at Ulubari E C Ram left office at 1930 hours yesterday,'' sources said, adding that he was missing since then.

Mr Ram was a resident of Christian Basti here.

Late last night, his son received a call from a person, who identified himself as a militant and said Ram was in their custody.

Police suspect that ransom was the motive behind the kidnapping.

Investigation was on, police said.

UNI
