Cauvery Jala Rakshana Sene to be formed
Mysore, Apr 18 (UNI) The Cauvery agitation in Karnataka further intensified today, with the Cauvery Hitarakshana Samithi embarking on enrolling one member from each family for the Cauvery Jala Rakshana Sene to fight against the ''injustice'' meted out to the farmers by the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal final award.
In Mandya district, the Samithi intended to enrol at least 50,000 farmers for the purpose from all villages in the district. The members should be ready for any type of agitation.
Addressing the Kanna Katte Bechanhalli villagers who participated in a dharna at Mandya, Samithi President G Made Gowda asked the farmers and others to actively join hands in the agitation.
Meanwhile, farmers and pro-Kannada organisations continued their protests, dharnas and road blockades in Mandya, Maddur, Pandavapura and Srirangapatna. Villagers blocked the Mysore-Bangalore expressway for some time.
In Mysore, activists of Mysore District Nayaka Mahila Sangha staged a dharna at K R Circle under the banner of Cauvery Kriya Samithi.
