BJP MP with lady companion detained at airport

New Delhi, Apr 18: A BJP member of Parliament from Gujarat, along with a woman companion, on way to Toronto in Canada were detained at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here this morning.

Babu Bhai Katara, MP from Dahod in Gujarat, was detained along with a woman companion Paramjit, while he was about to board a flight to Toronto, according to a senior airport official.

''He was detained after it was found that the lady accompanying the MP was using the passport of Babu Bhai Katara's wife Sharada Ben.'' Katara was to take Air India Flight 187 at about 0730 hrs when immigration officials detained him following the 'discrepancy' noticed in the documents, said a police official adding that he was yet to be arrested as charges on him were being framed.
