BJP hints at strictest action against Gujarat MP Katara
New Delhi, Apr 18 (UNI) Aggrieved by its Gujarat MP Babubhai Katara's attempt to fly with a woman in the name of his wife to Toronto resulting into his arrest at the IGI airport here, the BJP said today it would take strictest action, including his expulsion from the party.
''It is a serious and sensitive matter. This has definitely maligned the image of the party and there is no question of showing any leniency for him. The party is verifying the facts and will announce its action against him,''BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said.
Party president Rajnath Singh was away to Uttar Pradesh for the party's campaign. He would be reaching here either tonight or tomorrow. The party would take ''extreme exemplary action'' in the matter, Mr Javadekar said, adding that all senior party leaders had been informed about the incident.
In reply to a question, he said the party had yet to try to contact Mr Katara to ascertain the facts.
