Akola pharmacists to down shutters during load-shedding

Akola, Apr 18 (UNI) Pharmacists here in the city, numbering around 350, have decided to keep their shops closed during periods of load-shedding.

The Akola Chemist and Druggist Association, while announcing the decision, said it has been forced to resort to this step since Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) officials were harrassing them for not storing vital medicines and injections in the freezer.

The Association claimed that the pharamacists cannot afford the Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) systems or generators to operate the freezers during periods of load-shedding. Besides, invertors were not capable of operating the freezers. It has, therefore, been decided to keep the shops closed to avoid action by the FDA officials, the Association has said.

Akola city has to face eight to nine hours of load-shedding while the rural parts have to bear it for almost fifteen hours.
