8 feared dead as bus overturns in canal

Barabanki, Apr 18 (UNI) Eight persons, including five minors, were feared dead after a speeding bus carrying them overturned and fell in Sharda Canal here.

The passengers were returning from Gomti Nagar area of Lucknow, when the vehicle plunged in to the canal near Tikaria village in Deva area, police said.

While four persons swam to safety, Chironji Lal (60), Som (7), Mishri Lal (65), Anuj (6), Babua (4), Lav Kush (12), Ravi (8) and Amar Singh (40) were still missing.

The rescue operation wason, police added.
