UP: 8 fear drowned as jeep falls into canal

Lucknow, Apr 18: Eight people were feared drowned when the jeep in which they were travelling plunged into the Sharda canal in the Mati area of the adjoining Barabanki district late last night, police said today.

According to them, the accident occured when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it fell into the canal.

Four bodies have been fished out while efforts to recover the remaining corpses were on, the police added.
