VSP pays compensation

Visakhapatnam, Apr 17 (UNI) The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant(VSP) today paid compensation of Rs 24.40 lakh to the families of victims who died or were injured when a slab collapsed during construction of Ukkunagaram Ganasabha Hall in the city, a few months ago.

The compensation was provided to the families of the deceased and injured labourers on humanitarian grounds, a VSP release said.

The amount was awarded during a legal awareness camp conducted by the District Legal Services Authority in the city.

In addition, the Ukkunagaram Gana Sabha and the building contractor paid Rs two lakhs each to the victims' families.
