Vachana, Das literature to be available online from Apr 20

Bangalore, Apr 17 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has decided to make available Vachana and Das literature on the internet on April 20, the birth annivarsary of Basavanna, a 12th century social reformer, Kannada and Culture Minister H S Mahadevaprasad said today.

Talking to reporters here, he said the 30,000 page poems, written by about 250 socio-religious writers beginning from the 12th century, would be uploaded on the internet for the first time in the country.

The website would be inaugurated by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, the Minister said, adding that the Government had brought out the literature in the form of music CDs and cassettes at a cost of Rs 41 lakh.

He said the World Kannada meet would be held in Belgaum in the last week of September.
