Three killed, ten injured

Vijayawada, Apr 17 (UNI) Three people were killed and ten injured when a lorry in which they were travelling met with an accident in the outskirts of the city today.

The lorry, which was carrying about 30 Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) activists, was proceeding from Muchhanipalli to Vijayawada to attend 'madiga viswaroopa mahasabha' organised by the MRPS.

The injured were admitted to Government Hospital.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhra Reddy, who was participating as Chief Guest in the meeting announced ex-gratia of Rs two lakh to the deceased and Rs 10,000 each to the injured, on an appeal made by MRPS founder M Krishna Madiga.

The Chief Minister directed District Collector to look into the matter forthwith.

UNI
