TDP to introduce Private Member's Bill on beedi issue
Hyderabad, Apr 17 (UNI) The opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu today said his party would introduce a ''Private Member's Bill'' in the Parliament, demanding the Centre to scrap the G0 that made printing of the 'skull warning logo' mandatory on beedi packets from June 1 in the country.
Speaking to newspersons here, after attending a meeting of all trade unions on the beedi issue, organised by the TDP, Mr Naidu said his party would seek the support of other ''like minded'' parties on the issue and introduce a Private Member's Bill in the Parliament.
Announcing that the TDP would launch a nation-wide agitation to protest against the GO, he said the agitation would have support from other political parties, trade unions and beedi workers.
The TDP would convene a meeting with other political parties in the state tomorrow to chalk out agitation plans, he added.
