Surendranagar ceramic factory destroyed in fire

Surendranagar, Apr 17 (UNI) A major fire broke out in a ceramic factory at Cahn, 45 km from here, today.

The fire broke out due to a spark when an oil tanker was transferring oil to the factory at about 1130 hrs, fire brigade sources said.

Fire brigade from Surendranagar, Rajkot and Cahn that rushed to the spot, managed to contain the flames after two hours.

The ceramic unit, owned by Sureshbhai Sompura, was completely gutted and the loss is estimated to be around Rs 10 lakh.

There are 70 ceramic factories in Cahn and most of them use oil to fire furnaces. Oil to the factories come from ONGC or Reliance.
