Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan funds under utilised: CAG
Mumbai, Apr 17 (UNI) Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan has suffered a big jolt in Maharashtra due to under-utilisation of funds, poor development of infrastructure in schools and inadequate monitoring of activities, according to a report by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) for the year ending March 31, 2006.
The CAG, in its report, said more than one lakh children continued to remain 'out of school' even after the implementation of the scheme.
SSA, a programme aimed at universal elementary education, was launched in January, 2001, to provide useful and relevant education for all children in the age group of six to 14 by 2010.
