Puducherry proposes Singapore model overbridges

Puducherry, Apr 17 (UNI) The Puducherry Administration would examine the possibility of constructing overbridges in the town to avoid traffic congestion here, Chief Minister N Rangasamy told the Legislative Assembly today.

Replying to a question Mr Rangasamy said that L&T had advised the administration in this regard and they were examining whether it could be constructed as in Singapore and Malaysia.

Replying to another question he said steps were being taken to start a Scientific Research Centre and a library at the residence of veteran CPI leaders V Subbaiah and Mrs Saraswathi Subbiah which was donated to the government.

While the Chief Minister announced that PWD has already taken up the constructing work, R Viswanathan(CPI) pointed out that funds were not allocated for the same either in the Art and Culture Department or PWD.
