Puducherry assembly adjourn due to lack of quorum

Puducherry, Apr 17 (UNI) The Puducherry Legislative assembly was adjourned today due to lack of quorum.

In the 30-member territorial assembly, presence of at least 10 members should be there to conduct the proceedings.

While the members were taking part on the debate on demand for grants for revenue, sales tax and social welfare, the quorum was not adequate and Deputy Speaker A V Sreedharn conducting the House, adjourned it for ten minutes.

When the House reassembled at 1140 hrs, there were only seven members and Mr Sreedharan rang the bell to attract the attention of the members following which AIADMK member Om Sakthi Sekhar came to the House to make it seven.

Though, Mr Sreedharan rang the bell continously for some time, none of the memebrs turned up following which he adjourned the House till 0930 hrs tomorrow.
