Public-private partnership for medical facilities in Bihar

Patna, Apr 17(UNI) In a bid to provide better medical care for the people living in far-flung areas, the Bihar government has introduced public-private joint venture to equip the district-level hospitals and primary health centres with radiologocial and pathological test facilities.

Official sources today said with assistance from various private agencies, state government has provided the much-needed pathological and other test facilities in primary health centres and hospitals in all 38 districts of Bihar.

''In 19 districts, pathological test facilities were being provided by the Sen Diagnostics and Central Diagnostics while the radiology tests facilities were offered by IGIMS, Silvasa'' sources added.

With a view to provide better amenities for the hospitalised patients, a welfare committee had been constitited in every hospital and primary health centres. These committees would supervise the amenities provided to the patients undergoing treatment in various hospitals.

In order to provide healthcare facilities at the door step of the people, the state government has arranged toll free call centres where the patients could seek medical assistance in emergency.

Ambulances equipped with all modern medical facilities would be available on demand if any one dials 102 in Patna. Similarly doctors and other specialists could be rushed at the residence of patients when requested on telphone no 1911.

Steps have been taken to provide similar facilities in districts within next few months.
