Prof Loganathan's body to be buried in University camps

Coimbatore, Apr 17 (UNI) The body of Prof G V Loganathan, one of the victims in the shoot-out at the Virginia University in the United States, will be buried in the University campus as per his wish, family sources said.

The 51-year-old professor's parents, three brothers and four other close relatives were expected to leave for New York tomorrow evening to attend the funeral, the sources told UNI.

Even as the family was making arrangement to bring the body to their native Karatadipalayam village near Gobichettipalayam in Erode district, Loganathan's wife, Usha, informed them over phone that he had expressed his wish that his body should be buried in Virginia if anything happened to him.

To fulfil their son's wish, the parents --Vasudevan, a retired DRO, and Kannammal -- decided to fly to the US for the last rites.

As four of the family members, including the parents, did not possess passport, the family had sought the help of Tamil Nadu Government and the Centre through the District Collector to get the passports on tatkal and obtain emergency visa.

Loganathan planned to settle in India in a couple of years after his eldest daughter, Uma, completed her degree in the US, his relatives said.
