New Wage Board for journos within a week: Oscar Fernandes

Udupi, Karnataka, Apr 17 (UNI) A new Wage Board for Journalists and Non-Journalists of newspapers and news agencies is likely to be constituted in a week, Union Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes said today.

''The Labour Secretary is already on the job...he is doing the ground work,'' he told UNI on the sidelines of a Congress workers' meeting here.

Accepting the long-pending demand of scribes, the UPA Government at the Centre had announced on December eight its decision to constitute a wage board to revise the existing pay structure for journalists and non-journalists of newspapers and news agencies.
