Man convicted under Official Secrets Act

Rajkot, Apr 17 (UNI) A fast track court at Dhoraji has sentenced a man to ten years imprisonment holding him guilty under the Official Secrets Act.

Judge M G Baraiya awarded the sentence to Sahid alias Sahido Haji Gani on charges of supplying classified documents, pertaining to the country's defence, to a Pakistani intelligence official based in Dubai.

The police had arrested Sahido Gani on September 3, 2002 from Chakla Chowk at Dhoraji, about 85 kms from here, and seized sensitive documents and literature about the army and pictures of the border district of Kutchch. Gani, a resident of Dhoraji, had also visited Pakistan.
