Lovers commit suicide in Moga forming family opposition

Moga, Apr 17 (UNI) A nurse and a laboratory assistant of a local heart centre, apparently dejected over their families' strong opposition to their relations, allegedly committed suicide in a resort on Kotkapura road here, police today said.

According to police sources, the two consumed some poisonous substance last night and fell unconscious. They were immediately rushed to a Private nursing home on Amritsar road where both died around 2030 hrs.

The Moga police have registered a case under section 306 IPC and was investigating whether anybody had abetted them to take the extreme step.

According to police, the deceased - staff nurse Sandeep Kaur daughter of a Jail police official of Faridkot and Baljit Singh a local Laboratory assistant fell in love while working in the same heart care centre and wanted to get married.

However, apparently disheartened by their parents' strong opposition to their decision, the two went to a resort on Moga- Kotkapura road from their workplace, where they consumed some poisonous substance, police said.

When the matter came to light, the people in the resort rushed the unconscious couple to the nearby nursing home where they died.

Police had sent the dead bodies to Moga civil hospital for the post mortem.
