LifeLine Hospitals plan to upgrade facilities

Chennai, Apr 17 (UNI) LifeLine Group of Hospitals, providing multi speciality services, has drawn up ambitious plans to upgrade its facilities and acquire hospitals, involving a total investment of about Rs 100 crore in the next two years.

Talking to newspersons here today, J S Rajkumar, Chairman, LifeLine Group of Hospitals, said besides upgrading the existing facilities in the city, the group proposed to acquire atleast two hospitals in North East and two more in the Middle East.

Negotiations were in the advanced stage for acquiring few hospitals in the city and in the African countries, he said adding the group would focus on speciality health care like stem cell therapy, keyhole and bariatric surgeries.

In a bid to provide community healthcare with focus on diabetology, cardio vascular diseases, geriatrics and home care services, the group has acquired a 40 bed hospital in the developing Madipakkam area in the city with an investment of Rs four crore.

The group would invest an additional Rs three crore in the hospital, which would be connected through telemedicine. ''The hospital will be connected in a hub and spoke model, where the patients could be monitored from the LifeLine Multi speciality hospital at Perungudi'', he said.

Dr Rajkumar said the group which made a humble beginning with a 50 bed hospital in the city in 1997, has grown into a 300 bed group hospital. Besides four hospitals, the group has set 14 corporate centres, he added.
