Land acquisition for Udaipur airport expansion

Udaipur, Apr 17 (UNI) The Rajasthan government is in the process of acquiring 100 acres of land for setting up an international terminal at the Dabok located Maharana Pratap Airport.

According to official sources, the state government will bear the expenses for acquiring the land required and turning the airport into an international one.

Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje did the ceremonial puja and laid the foundation stone for expansion of the airport yesterday.

An amount of Rs 77.50 crore has been cleared for setting up of the new terminal building, out of which Rs 30 crore has already been spent.

An amount of Rs 14.55 crore has been earmarked for expansion of apron of which Rs 2 crore has been utilised. The present length (114 metres by 76 metres) of apron is being increased to 240 metres by 185 metres which will be able to accommodate nine aeroplanes instead of two now.

The runway length is being increased from 7500 feet to 9000 feet. Instead of simple approach lighting, provisions for Cat-1 approach lighting is being made on runway 26. A workorder of Rs 30 crore has been issued for expansion of runway.

At least 264.8 bigha land has been acquired and handed over to airport authority.
