Lad Trust planning to increase museum entry fee

Mumbai, Apr 17 (UNI) The Bhau Daji Lad Museum Trust is likely to raise its entry fee of the museum from Rs two to Rs 10 for local visitors and to Rs 100 for foreign tourists.

A proposal to this effect is scheduled to come up in the next meeting of the Trust which will be chaired by BMC Mayor Shubha Raul, a top official from the Museum told UNI on condition of anonymity today. The Trust is headed by Tasmim Mehta.

When contacted over phone, Ms Raul said nothing of this sort was mentioned in the agenda and she will have to find it out.

As per the original agreement between Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Trust, the latter's role is to assist and guide the civic employees working in the museum, in preservation of the museum. The property would belong to the BMC.

The BMC has, however, transferred four officers, including the curator of the museum. A new curator, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, has taken charge.
