K'taka to decide on powers to Lok Ayukta soon
Bangalore, Apr 17 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will soon take a decision on providing suo motu powers to the Lok Ayukta for curbing corruption in the State, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said today.
Talking to reporters after a Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting here, he said a final decision would be taken at a Cabinet meeting, to be held in the next eight to ten days.
Mr Kumaraswamy said the State Government had planned to build 50,000 houses monthly to realise its vision of constructing six lakh houses this year.
He said the Government had identified the beneficiaries and instructed the Finance Department to release funds on a monthly basis to construct the houses. Atleast ten acres of land would be acquired for the purpose in each village, he added.
Under the Ashraya Housing scheme, the Government had planned to provide group housing or multi-storeyed housing as it was difficult to provide independent houses, Mr Kumaraswamy said.
The Government had also planned to provide two lakh houses through the Bangalore Development Authority for MIG people in the city, he said, adding that it planned to acquire 300 acres of land in different parts of the city for the purpose.
