K'taka Minister stays overnight in remote village

Mysore, Apr 17 (UNI) Toeing the line of Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Cooperatives Minister G T Deve Gowda stayed overnight at the sleepy village of Vaddarahalli in Hunsur taluk of the district to lend an ear to public grievances.

The district incharge Minister, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner S Selvakumar and other officials, heard the problems of the public until the early hours.

Many taluk officials had visited Sabbanahalli, Bilikere and other villages in Hunsur taluk yesterday and solved the problems on the spot.

Scores of applications were received from the villagers regarding pension for widows and the elderly, allowance for the disabled, disparities in distribution of ration cards, proper roads, drinking water and drainage system in their villages.

In the first phase of the programme, ten villages in Hunsur taluk would be covered. The programme would be continued for the next 90 days.

It may be recalled here that the Karnataka Government, in a first of its kind initiative, had launched the programme in Hunsur taluk yesterday on a pilot basis.
